The 13th International Conference on Scour and Erosion (ICSE 2027) will take place at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). Porto Airport has been repeatedly recognised as one of the best in Europe. The quickest and most practical way to reach FEUP from the airport (if you are not using a taxi or ride-hailing apps such as Uber or Bolt) is the metro:
Follow the instructions in the “By Metro” section.
Take Line E (Purple).
Alight at Trindade station to change lines.
Transfer to Line D (Yellow), heading towards “Hospital de São João”.
By Train
If you arrive in Porto via the CP – Comboios de Portugal train network (Alfa Pendular or Intercidades), you have two main options:
- Campanhã Station: This is the city’s main railway station. Take any available metro line (A, B, C, or E), alight at Trindade station, and change to Line D (Yellow) heading towards Hospital de São João. Alternatively, you can take the direct STCP bus route 404 (towards Hospital de São João).
- São Bento Station: Located in the heart of the historic center. Take Line D (Yellow) of the metro directly towards Hospital de São João.

By Metro
The Metro do Porto network is modern and highly intuitive. You can consult and download the full Metro Network Map here. FEUP is served directly by Line D (Yellow).
- IPO Station: Upon exiting the station, walk along Rua do Dr. Plácido da Costa until you reach the junction with Rua Dr. Roberto Frias. Cross the road, and you will be facing FEUP’s main entrance.
- Hospital de São João Station (Terminus): Upon exiting, follow Estrada da Circunvalação until the junction with Rua Dr. Roberto Frias. Walk down this street until you intersect with Rua do Dr. Plácido da Costa. FEUP will be on your left.
By Bus (STCP Network)
The Asprela University Campus (Pólo Universitário da Asprela) is one of the city’s main transport hubs. You can use several routes from the STCP bus network, such as the 204, 205, 300, or 803, which have stops conveniently located right outside the faculty or in its immediate vicinity.
By Car and Parking
If you choose to drive or hire a car, the campus offers straightforward access. Entry to FEUP’s car parks is via the Via Estruturante (a road perpendicular to Rua Dr. Roberto Frias), which wraps around the southern perimeter of the faculty. Designated access zones will be available for conference delegates.
