Welcome

The International Conference on Scour and Erosion (ICSE) was established in 2002, and has been run by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) Technical Committee on Scour and Erosion TC213 (Chair: Dr. Shinji Sassa). The first conference was held in College Station Texas, USA (2002), followed by Singapore (2004), Amsterdam, Netherlands (2006), Tokyo, Japan (2008), San Francisco, USA (2010), Paris, France (2012), Perth, Australia (2014), Oxford, UK (2016), Taipei (2018), Arlington, USA (2021 – Virtual event), Copenhagen, Denmark (2023) and Chonqing, China (2025). The forthcoming conference will be held in Porto, Portugal, from 31 August to 3 September 2027.
The goal of this conference is to bring together researchers, engineers and managers to share their latest findings on Scour and Erosion. This conference is an excellent platform for presenting your researches, ideas, technology advancements and engineering achievements.

ICSE 13

The 13th ICSE — International Conference on Scour and Erosion — will be held in Porto, Portugal, in 2027, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.

Location

The conference will take place at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is the largest of the 14 Faculties that make up the University of Porto, currently one of the most prestigious Higher Education Institutions in Europe.

With almost 10,000 students and more than 600 professors and researchers spread over six departments: Civil and Georesources Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management and Informatics Engineering.

FEUP is located in a true innovation district, where the strong presence of engineering, health sciences and entrepreneurship is highly conducive to the innovation process. It is also home to the University of Porto Science and Technology Park (UPTEC), a fundamental structure for supporting the transfer of knowledge between the university and the market.
